LEARY’S CORNER
TASMANIA
Located in Tasmania, on the edge of Cradle Mountain National Park, this project involved designing a resort to provide accommodation to tourist wanting to explore the iconic wilderness of the area.
The resort is a composition of a series of structures designed to blend into its natural habitat. Each module is simplistic in form, with clean strong lines, a muted palette and thoughtfully composed spaces, seamlessly connecting indoor spaces with outdoor terraces. Orientation and strategically positioned windows offer abundant natural light and a range of views to open green vistas, embracing the natural beauty of the place. The overall layout and individual structures incorporate a number of environmental sustainable design principles and energy conservation features.
The project was recently granted a development approval and is in the first stage of a bigger proposal which will include additional buildings, providing a variety of tourist accommodation types.
